At Bank of America, downtown Chicago location, fifty high school girls were honored as winners and runner-up recipients of the NCWIT (National Center for Women In Technology) Aspirations in Computing Award. Corporate and Academia worked together to honor these girls and their technology talent from Illinois. Illinois continues to have honorees who earn awards at the National level as well as regionally. Michelle Mikka-Van Der Stuyf, President & CEO, BizStrat Technology, Illinois Technology Foundation board member, Lewis University Computer Science & Math Advisory board member and NCWIT executive committee member delivered inspirational real world closing remarks to the 125+ in attendance and announced a $1,000 scholarship opportunity for 2 of the girls who would be selected from applications toward their collegiate endeavors.
This annual competition (NCWIT Aspirations in Computing) is open in October each year, and applications are taken through the end of December. Awardees are notified in Feb/March of the following year and the host organization varies from year to year. 2016 Awards Ceremony will be held at Lewis University – Romeoville Campus.
